Illinois Man Indicted for Threatening Witnesses in Nolan Wells Death Investigation
Edward James Porter of Berwyn, Illinois, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of transmitting a threatening communication in interstate commerce. Prosecutors allege Porter threatened witnesses involved in the investigation into the death of Mississippi teenager Nolan Wells. The indictment follows Porter's arrest in late July. According to court records, Porter allegedly threatened to kill a witness and their family around July 31, and later texted the witness their home address, claiming to be outside the residence. Russell Latino, an attorney representing Bart Edmiston Jr. and Bart Edmiston Sr., identified them as the recipients of these threats. Edmiston Jr. was with Wells on Horn Island on July 4. Latino also alleged that Porter made racial remarks during the threats and stated he was not afraid of law enforcement.
