Record-Breaking Heat Expected in Phoenix This Weekend
Phoenix is bracing for extreme heat this weekend, with temperatures forecasted to reach record-breaking highs. According to AZFamily, the National Weather Service has extended the Extreme Heat Warning through Monday night. Friday's high is expected to hit 116°F (46.7°C), potentially tying a record from 2020. Saturday could see temperatures soar to 117°F (47.2°C), breaking the previous record of 116°F (46.7°C), while Sunday is forecasted to reach 115°F (46.1°C), surpassing the prior record of 114°F (45.6°C). Overnight lows will remain in the mid to lower 90s°F (32-34°C), offering little relief. A ridge of high pressure is responsible for the prolonged heat, keeping conditions dry in Phoenix and limiting storm chances to eastern and southeastern Arizona. Slight rain chances may emerge by Wednesday as the ridge shifts northeast, allowing moisture to filter into the region.
