Bureau of Labor Statistics Reports Remote Work Stabilization with 34.9% Participation in 2025
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' latest American Time Use Survey reveals that remote work has stabilized, with 34.9% of full-time workers, approximately 32.5 million people, working from home on an average day in 2025. This marks a slight increase from 33.4% in 2024, indicating that hybrid work has become a permanent feature of the labor market. The survey highlights that educational attainment is a significant predictor of remote work eligibility, with higher education correlating to more remote work opportunities. Workers in knowledge-based fields such as finance, technology, and consulting are more likely to work remotely, while roles requiring physical presence, like manufacturing and construction, offer fewer remote options.
