U.S. House Members Honor Late Fort Worth Representative Kay Granger
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives gathered to honor the late Rep. Kay Granger, who passed away on August 2 at the age of 83 after a battle with Alzheimer's. The tribute marked the first House session since her death, providing an opportunity for her colleagues to remember her service. Rep. Craig Goldman, R-Fort Worth, who succeeded Granger in representing Texas’ 12th Congressional District, led the tribute. Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, and Rep. Roger Williams, R-Willow Park, also participated in the remarks. Approximately 30 members from both parties were present. Goldman highlighted Granger's numerous 'firsts,' including being the first woman mayor of Fort Worth, the first Republican woman from Texas elected to the House, and the first woman to chair the House Appropriations Committee subcommittee on defense, as well as the first GOP woman to chair the full House Appropriations Committee.
