Navy Initiates Market Research for Next-Generation Enterprise Network Hardware Recompete
The U.S. Navy has begun initial market research and acquisition planning for the recompete of the hardware portion of its Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN). This network is the primary enterprise IT infrastructure for approximately 750,000 Navy and 260,000 Marine Corps personnel. The current NGEN-R hardware contract, awarded to HP Inc.'s federal subsidiary in 2019, is set to expire in March 2029. Through a sources sought notice, the Navy is soliciting ideas from industry on how to incorporate commercial supply chain practices, technologies, and business models into its IT product delivery functions. The Navy aims to address current issues such as slow acquisition-to-delivery cycles, limited end-to-end visibility, administrative friction, and supply-chain risk exposure. The recompete will focus on supply chain management, with operational support services excluded from its scope.
