Russian Aviation Plans Stalled Due to Lack of Aircraft and U.S. Engines
In Siberia, Russia's plans to launch regional air routes have been halted due to a shortage of small aircraft. The routes, intended to connect Novosibirsk with other regional cities, have been delayed primarily because of the failure to modernize the Soviet-era An-2 aircraft. The modernization project, which included plans to replace avionics and engines with American-made Honeywell turboprop engines, has been stalled due to deteriorating relations with the West, resulting in a lack of necessary licenses and engines.
