Waymo Co-CEO Warns AI Developers on Safety in Autonomous Vehicles
Waymo's co-CEO Dmitri Dolgov has issued a warning to AI developers about the importance of prioritizing safety in autonomous vehicles and robots. Speaking at a Y Combinator interview, Dolgov emphasized that the 'move fast and break things' approach of Silicon Valley is unacceptable when it comes to physical AI applications. He stressed that safety must be integrated into models and systems from the outset, as errors in autonomous vehicles can lead to irreversible harm. Waymo's expansion, with over 220 million rider-only miles logged, underscores the commercial weight of this warning.
