Rootkit Labs Introduces Phantom Drive: A Stealth USB with Encrypted Partition
Rootkit Labs has developed the Phantom Drive, an open-source USB device designed to protect sensitive data through a hidden encrypted partition. The drive appears as a standard 8GB USB stick but contains a microSD card that unlocks a secret partition when a specific text file is created. This partition is secured with AES-256 encryption, making it ideal for situations where users may be compelled to reveal the contents of their storage devices. The Phantom Drive uses a CH569 microcontroller and relies on a custom firmware that intercepts data transfers, ensuring that the hidden partition remains secure. The device is available for purchase or can be built independently using open-source resources provided by Rootkit Labs.
