Late.sh Launches as Terminal-First Social App for Computer Enthusiasts via SSH
Late.sh has launched as a terminal-first social application designed for computer enthusiasts, accessible via any SSH client. This platform offers a "cozy command-line clubhouse" where users can engage in real-time chat, listen to music, play games, create art, code, and access tech news. The application is built as a Rust workspace with five crates, backed by PostgreSQL, Icecast, and Liquidsoap. It features an SSH TUI (Text User Interface) with a dashboard, chat, profile management, news feeds, and an arcade screen. Users can connect by simply typing `ssh late.sh` into their terminal. Upon the first connection, a new account receives a random username, which can be changed later. The project's codebase is source-available, allowing for source reading, local development, audits, and contributions, though it is not OSI open source during its FSL protection period.
