Obscura: A New Headless Browser for AI Agents and Web Scraping
Obscura, an open-source headless browser, is designed for AI agents and web scraping, offering a lightweight and stealthy alternative to traditional browsers like Chrome. Built in Rust, Obscura supports real JavaScript execution via V8 and is compatible with Puppeteer and Playwright. It provides features such as native rendering, PDF export, and screencasting without requiring Chromium. Obscura is optimized for automation at scale, offering significant memory and speed advantages over headless Chrome. The project is supported by sponsors and is working on a cloud-hosted version to provide managed infrastructure and support.
