Hawaiian Telcom Accelerates Fiber Upgrades Following Recent Storms to Enhance Network Reliability
Hawaiian Telcom is expediting the upgrade of its network from copper to fiber infrastructure in response to recent severe weather events across the Hawaiian islands. This initiative aims to improve service restoration times and provide customers with a more reliable and resilient network connection. The company has stated that these fiber upgrades will be performed at no additional cost to customers in areas where the service is available. Jason Thune, vice president of fiber strategy and deployment for Hawaiian Telcom, emphasized that the recent storms underscored the critical need for modern, robust infrastructure to maintain community connectivity.
