AI-Powered Home Security Systems Gain Popularity Among U.S. Homeowners
A recent Vivint study involving 1,004 Americans indicates that 82% of homeowners are willing to pay more for AI-powered home security systems. These advanced systems offer active threat response capabilities, distinguishing them from traditional cameras that primarily record events. According to Chris Carney, CEO and founder of Abode Systems, AI-powered systems can identify various elements like people, pets, packages, and vehicles, and even environmental factors such as rain, reducing false alarms. Philip Kolterman, chief information officer at Brinks Home, explains that these systems can make real-time judgments, initiating actions like flashing lights, playing recorded warnings, or sounding sirens before a homeowner even sees an alert. Some sophisticated setups can monitor packages after delivery and issue warnings if someone lingers too long, a feature not possible with passive camera systems.
