PG Warns Fresno County Residents of Impersonator Scams Seeking Customer Information
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has issued a warning to residents in Fresno County, California, regarding an increase in impersonator scams. Individuals are reportedly posing as PG&E employees, approaching customers with claims of being able to help them save money on their utility bills. These scammers request to see a copy of the customer's bill, which can grant them access to sensitive financial information and the ability to make unauthorized changes to the customer's account. PG&E emphasizes that legitimate employees will always carry and present official identification upon request. The company advises customers to call 800-743-5000 to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a PG&E representative. Furthermore, if an imposter attempts to gain entry into a home or if a resident feels endangered, they are urged to contact 911.
