German Company Delivers Advanced Submarine to U.S. Ally Israel, Enhancing Naval Power
A Kiel-based company, TKMS, has successfully delivered the 'INS DRAKON,' a 2,400-ton submarine with air-independent propulsion, to the Israeli Navy. This vessel is the third and final submarine of the HDW 'Dolphin' class with AIP propulsion, marking the successful completion of the 'Dolphin AIP' program. The 'INS DRAKON' has departed Kiel and is currently en route to Israel. According to Oliver Burkhard, CEO of TKMS, this delivery concludes a challenging program characterized by trust, technological expertise, and shared responsibility, highlighting Israel as an important maritime partner. TKMS is also progressing with the 'DAKAR' class, the next generation of submarines for the Israeli Navy, with production of the first submarine in this class already underway. This continues a long-standing partnership between TKMS and the Israeli Navy, which includes the construction of Dolphin-class submarines and Sa’ar 6-class corvettes.
