Noble Public Schools Emphasizes Cybersecurity Awareness to Combat Phishing and Ransomware Threats
Noble Public Schools is actively educating its staff on cybersecurity awareness to counter prevalent threats like phishing and ransomware. The school district highlights that education is the third most targeted industry for cyberattacks, with a significant portion of phishing emails now incorporating AI-written text, making them harder to detect. The primary attack vectors include stolen login credentials and ransomware. Staff are urged to use a 'Phish Alert Report' button in Outlook to report suspicious emails, which are then sent to the Technology Department for analysis and blocking. The department explicitly states it will never ask for passwords, verification codes, or request gift cards or money via email, phone, or text. If staff click on a suspicious link or suspect an infection, they are instructed to immediately unplug their computer from the network, take a picture of any on-screen messages, power off the device, and contact the Technology Department.
