Zscaler Details Strategies to Combat Machine-Speed AI-Driven Cyber Threats in Branch Networks
Zscaler has outlined strategies to secure branch networks against advanced, machine-speed AI-driven cyber threats. These threats, exemplified by Anthropic’s Mythos disclosure, involve AI autonomously discovering and exploiting network vulnerabilities at speeds that bypass traditional human-speed security detection. AI can now chain together individually unremarkable vulnerabilities to create potent attack chains, making the backlog of unpatched Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) a significant risk. Zscaler proposes a Zero Trust Branch architecture built on four core tenets: Hide, Contain, Inspect, and Respond. This approach aims to eliminate the external attack surface, prevent lateral movement within networks, ensure comprehensive traffic inspection, and enable automated incident response to counter the rapid pace of AI-driven attacks. The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) has also issued recommendations for organizations to become 'Mythos Ready,' emphasizing architectural changes that align with Zsc...
