Columbia County Community Raises Nearly $60,000 for Elderly Man Facing Financial Hardship Due to Health Issues
A community in Columbia County, Florida, has successfully raised nearly $60,000 for Terry Small, a 68-year-old resident of Ft. White, who was struggling to pay his bills due to severe health problems. Small, semi-retired because chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) made it difficult to continue his lawn-care business, was surviving on $510 a month in Social Security benefits and received only $6 a month in food assistance. Facing mounting unpaid utility bills, Small resorted to standing at a local intersection to ask for help. Local social media influencer Kyle Green noticed Small and subsequently launched a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf. The campaign quickly garnered significant support, raising close to $60,000 within a few days. Small expressed disbelief and gratitude for the community's generosity, stating he had only lived in Columbia County for five years.
