Record October Heat Wave Grips California
California is experiencing a record-breaking October heat wave, with temperatures soaring 15 to 25 degrees above historical averages across the state. Los Angeles and San Diego are under extreme heat warnings, with Los Angeles potentially tying or breaking daily records early this week. San Diego reached 105°F (40.6°C) on Saturday, marking the first time the city hit 100°F (37.8°C) in October since 1987. Inland areas, including Fresno and the San Francisco Bay Area, are also seeing highs 10 to 15 degrees above normal. The heat wave, which could extend until October 9, is among the most intense in Los Angeles history, according to the AccuWeather HeatWave Counter and Severity Index™.
