Nor'easter Brings Flooding and Heavy Rain to NYC Region
A slow-moving nor'easter continues to impact the New York City region, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding. As of Sunday, Central Park recorded 2.44 inches of rain, while parts of eastern Long Island have seen nearly 4 inches. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2.5 inches is expected through Monday, with some areas potentially exceeding 5 inches in total. Floodwaters have inundated low-lying areas, including Beach Channel Drive near 84th Street, where streets remain submerged. The storm has also caused disruptions to transit and left debris scattered across affected neighborhoods. The heaviest rain is currently concentrated in Monmouth County, New Jersey, and western Suffolk County, New York. Conditions are expected to gradually improve by late Monday as the storm moves away.
