Los Angeles Heat Wave May Last Until Month’s End
A major heat wave gripping Los Angeles and Southern California could continue through August 30, bringing a potential 13-day stretch of temperatures at or above 90°F. Downtown Los Angeles has already reached 98°F, with highs near 100°F possible later this week and daily records potentially under threat. Inland areas such as Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Phoenix could see temperatures in the 110s. While San Diego will avoid the worst of the heat, beachgoers should watch for large swells and sneaker waves. Forecasters expect a storm moving into the Northwest this weekend to eventually bring cooler Pacific air and break the prolonged heat.
