Maryland Expands Self-Service Vehicle Emissions Kiosks in D.C. Area
Maryland is expanding its self-service Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) kiosks in the D.C. metropolitan area, with a second kiosk now operational in Gaithersburg. The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) announced that additional kiosks are planned for several locations in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, including Silver Spring, Beltsville, Largo, and Clinton. The state also intends to add kiosks in Annapolis, Baltimore, and Bel Air. These self-service kiosks allow drivers to complete emissions tests 24 hours a day for $26, which is $4 less than the $30 fee for full-service testing. Maryland Motor Vehicle Administrator Chrissy Nizer stated that the expansion aims to provide convenient and accessible government services, offering flexibility for residents to complete emissions testing on their own schedule and supporting cleaner air initiatives.
