Authorities Recover 131 Stolen Vases Valued at $75,000 in Scott County, Man Charged
Authorities in Scott County, Virginia, have recovered approximately 131 vases, estimated to be worth $75,000, as part of an ongoing investigation into thefts from cemeteries in both Tennessee and Virginia. The investigation commenced on August 14 after workers at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Kingsport, Tennessee, reported 70 vases stolen from gravesites, many of which were from children’s burial plots. A tip led Sullivan County investigators to a Kingsport home, where six suspected stolen vases were recovered. Further leads directed investigators to Circle C Recycling and Salvage Metals in Gate City, Virginia. A joint search at this facility resulted in the recovery of the 131 vases. Robert Clark, the 74-year-old owner of Circle C Recycling and Salvage Metals, has been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. Authorities indicate that additional charges may be filed in Sullivan County as the investigation continues.
