A Major Cold Blast Is About to Hit the Western US
A dramatic weather flip is coming to the western US this weekend as a deep dip in the jet stream sends much colder air across the region. Temperatures could plunge 25 to 50 degrees from recent highs, with some areas shifting from near 100°F heat to autumnlike conditions within days. Rain will spread across parts of the West while snow levels drop across Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Montana before spreading into Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and the Dakotas. The northern Rockies could see 6 to 12 inches of snow at elevations as low as 4,000 feet, with locally higher totals possible.
