National School Leaders Convene in Omaha to Study Early Childhood Education Collaboration
Education leaders from across the United States gathered in Omaha, Nebraska, from October 7-9 to explore the collaborative approaches local school districts are employing to enhance early childhood education and support children and families. The visit was part of The AASA, the School Superintendents Association's, Early Learning Cohort, which facilitates the exchange of research-based strategies among district leaders. Participants learned about the Superintendents’ Early Childhood Plan, a joint initiative by 11 school districts in Douglas and Sarpy counties, aimed at developing early childhood programs for young children, particularly those living in poverty. The Buffett Early Childhood Institute at the University of Nebraska, in partnership with the Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties, provides leadership and support for this comprehensive plan.
