Duluth Hosts Inaugural Out of the Darkness Walk to Support Suicide Prevention
Duluth, Minnesota, recently held its first Out of the Darkness Walk at Brighton Beach Park, an event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for suicide prevention. The walk, co-chaired by Julie Johnson, aimed to unite the Twin Ports community and convey a message of solidarity to individuals struggling with mental health challenges. Participants contributed individually, as part of a team, or by attending the event. As of Sunday night, the initiative, organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, successfully raised nearly $5,000. The funds generated from this event are designated to remain within Minnesota, where they will support various programs including research, advocacy efforts, and educational initiatives in schools, workplaces, and communities across the state.
