Austin Invests $102,000 in Community-Led Projects for Food Access, Climate Action, and Resilience
Austin Climate Action and Resilience has allocated a total of $102,000 in funding to 34 community-led initiatives through its Food and Climate Equity (FACE) Grants program. This program offers grants of up to $3,000 to local organizations dedicated to developing innovative solutions for improving the local food system, addressing environmental inequalities, and assisting Austin residents in preparing for and adapting to disruptive events. The projects funded this year encompass a broad spectrum of community-strengthening efforts. Examples include a health clinic establishing a community garden to enhance access to healthy food, community organizers disseminating emergency preparedness strategies in response to increasing extreme weather, and educators expanding Green Teams to empower students in leading sustainability initiatives across Austin's schools.
