Durham Fire Department Responds to House Fire on Spring Street
On Saturday morning, the Durham Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 300 block of Spring Street in Durham, North Carolina. A neighbor reported the fire around 9:30 a.m. Firefighters quickly located a small fire inside a closet within the residence and were able to extinguish it rapidly. No occupants were inside the home at the time of the incident. According to the fire chief, the damage to the property is considered moderate and was primarily contained to the closet and its immediate surrounding areas. Approximately 38 Durham firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The Battalion Chief initially requested additional units upon arrival due to the significant presence of smoke observed. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities.
