Buncombe County TDA Awards $11.2 Million for Tourism Projects, Including RAD Creative Campus
The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) has allocated $11.2 million in grants to 10 tourism-related projects. These grants, awarded through the Legacy Investment from Tourism (LIFT) fund, aim to attract more tourists to the county and benefit the local community. Among the significant recipients, the North Carolina Arboretum Society received $2.4 million for an Education & Events Plaza, and the River Arts District Artists Foundation (RADA Foundation, Inc.) secured $2.1 million for the RAD Creative Campus. The RAD Creative Campus project is particularly notable as it will be situated above the floodplain in two former industrial buildings on Lyman Street, addressing damage from Hurricane Helene two years prior. The total cost of these 10 projects is approximately $60 million, with the LIFT fund covering about 19% of the expenses.
