Waterbury Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal July Hit-and-Run Incident
Waterbury police have arrested Ayesha Abdul-Lateef, 47, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on July 25th. Abdul-Lateef was taken into custody on Wednesday and faces charges of evading responsibility resulting in death and failure to yield while turning left. The incident in July involved 27-year-old Luis Santana, who was found by officers with a downed moped. Santana, identified as the operator of the moped, sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later died. Abdul-Lateef was held on a $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning. This arrest comes after an investigation into the July incident, bringing a significant development to the case.
