The National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix has issued detailed guidance on extreme heat conditions expected in the region. Arizona's summer months are historically the deadliest due to heat-related illnesses, with temperatures often exceeding 105°F (40.6°C). The NWS has developed an experimental HeatRisk product to assess and communicate heat risks based on temperature thresholds, duration, and humidity levels. HeatRisk levels range from 0 (Green, no elevated risk) to 4 (Magenta, extreme risk for the entire population). Alerts such as Extreme Heat Watches and Warnings are issued when significant heat events are forecasted.
