Wind-Driven Fire Damages Structures and Power Poles in Phoenix
A fire driven by heavy winds burned structures, trees, and power poles in a south Phoenix neighborhood on August 3. The fire, which started around 10:45 p.m. near 7th Street and Southern Avenue, was fueled by strong winds from a dust storm. Firefighters responded to reports of a power pole on fire and found multiple poles and structures engulfed in flames. The fire was contained without any injuries, and the affected structures were vacant. Power outages occurred in the area, but restoration efforts are underway.
