Phoenix Police Officers Fired and Arrested Following Violent, Unreported Traffic Stop
Two Phoenix police officers, Antonio Felix and Luis Vasquez, have been fired and arrested on charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping after a violent and unreported traffic stop. Police Chief Matt Giordano stated that detectives confirmed the former officers physically assaulted a man and woman and used a Taser on them during the August 5 incident. The officers did not report the stop nor activate their body-worn cameras. Court documents indicate both officers admitted their involvement. A judge set a $100,000 secured appearance bond for each defendant, requiring electronic monitoring if released. The male driver and female passenger reported that the officers smashed their car window, Vasquez punched the man and threatened to shoot him, and the woman was removed from the vehicle and handcuffed.
