Trail Closures and Weather Updates for Grand Canyon National Park
The National Park Service has issued updates on trail statuses and closures at Grand Canyon National Park. Currently, several trails remain open, including the South Kaibab Trail from the South Kaibab Trailhead to Phantom Ranch, the Bright Angel Trail from the Bright Angel Trailhead to River Resthouse, and the entire North Kaibab Trail. However, due to significant flash flooding in Bright Angel Canyon on August 29, certain sections of trails, including parts of the South Kaibab Trail below Tip-Off Point and the Bright Angel Trail below the Tonto Trail intersection, are closed. Additionally, the North Kaibab Trail from Redwall Bridge to the northern end of Cottonwood Campground will close on October 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., making traditional Rim-to-Rim hiking unavailable starting October 16, 2026. Water availability is limited in many areas, and hikers are advised to carry sufficient water or water treatment options. (Source time: not specified)
