Rainy Weekend Forecast for Phoenix Area Following Record Heat
The Phoenix area is experiencing a significant weather shift this weekend as monsoon moisture brings storm chances and cooler temperatures. After enduring extreme heat, including a high of 114°F (45.6°C) today, which ties the daily record, the region is set to see relief. This follows yesterday's record-tying 117°F (47.2°C). High pressure is moving out of the Southwest, allowing an area of low pressure to enter the Northwest and tropical moisture to flow into Arizona. These changes are expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of the state, marking a departure from the recent heat wave. The First Alert Weather Day remains in effect for heat in the Valley today.
