California Man Arrested for Stealing Mail and Election Ballots in Scottsdale
Richard Anthony Ramos Jr., a 26-year-old from Stockton, California, has been arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, for allegedly stealing mail, including unvoted election ballots, from a post office collection box. Ramos faces charges of third-degree burglary and aggravated identity theft. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service had been investigating reports of stolen checks and mail from the Scottsdale Hopi Post Office since May 2026. Ramos was caught after postal inspectors set up surveillance and discovered him retrieving mail using a trap device. The stolen ballots were outbound packets, and affected voters have been reissued new ballots.
