Phoenix Faces Unhealthy Air Quality Due to Persistent Dust Storms
Phoenix is experiencing poor air quality due to recent dust storms, with air quality levels reaching 125, considered unhealthy. The storms, which began on August 3-4, have resulted in high concentrations of dust, marking the fifth Category 5 storm in 16 years. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert, and conditions are expected to remain unhealthy through Friday. The lack of rainfall has contributed to the persistence of dust in the air, affecting visibility and health.
