Potential Colorado River Water Cuts Could Severely Impact Arizona
An Arizona state official has expressed concern over potential federal government-imposed cuts to Colorado River water supplies, which could be significantly larger than those proposed by California, Arizona, and Nevada. The official, who spoke anonymously, warned that such cuts could drastically reduce water availability for the Central Arizona Project, affecting drinking water supplies in Tucson and Phoenix, as well as agricultural areas like Yuma. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is expected to release its final decision and environmental impact statement on the matter soon.
