Phoenix Monsoon Brings Rain, Cooler Weather
The Arizona monsoon season is concluding with a mix of rain and cooler temperatures in Phoenix. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), light to moderate rainfall is expected throughout Monday, with some areas experiencing heavier showers in the afternoon. Rainfall amounts are predicted to reach up to a quarter of an inch in most areas, with localized totals of up to an inch by Tuesday. Higher terrains north and east of Phoenix could see up to 2 inches of rain. Hurricane Polo is contributing to the moisture influx as it moves northeast, although its main track remains south and east of Arizona. A flood watch has been issued for northern parts of Phoenix, including Cave Creek and northern Maricopa County, effective from midnight Monday through Tuesday evening. Temperatures are also significantly cooler, with highs in the lower 80s on Monday and upper 70s to 80°F (26–27°C) on Tuesday, compared to the seasonal average of 96°F (35.5°C).
