Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Las Vegas Valley Following Monsoon Rains
The Las Vegas Valley is transitioning from recent monsoon activity to a period of extreme heat. Over the past week, parts of the valley, including eastern neighborhoods and areas near Nellis Air Force Base, experienced scattered thunderstorms, with Harry Reid International Airport recording 0.03 inches of rain on consecutive days. However, starting Tuesday, an extreme heat watch will be in effect from 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. Friday, as temperatures are forecasted to soar between 107-110°F (41.7-43.3°C) across the Mojave Desert region. Death Valley could see highs exceeding 115°F (46.1°C). The National Weather Service also noted a 20-30% chance of isolated thunderstorms on Sunday, with temperatures climbing from 100°F (37.8°C) on Sunday to 104°F (40°C) on Monday.
