Glendale Police Engage in Fatal Gunfire Exchange with Barricaded Suspect
On August 12, Glendale police were involved in a fatal confrontation with a barricaded suspect, identified as 59-year-old Jeffery Peters, at a residence near 75th and Glendale avenues. The incident began when Peters, who was under an order of protection filed by his adult daughter, was seen entering the home via surveillance cameras. Police responded with a search warrant and attempted to contact Peters, who was reportedly armed and wearing body armor. The situation escalated into a two-hour exchange of gunfire, during which police used SWAT-type vehicles to breach the home. Peters was found dead from a gunshot wound, though it remains unclear if the shot was self-inflicted or from police. An officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.
