Powerball Winner Invests in Rebuilding Fire-Damaged Altadena
Edwin Castro, who won a $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot in 2022, has invested approximately $10 million in purchasing 15 fire-damaged lots in Altadena, California. His plan is to build single-family homes for owner-occupants rather than rental investors. Two of the homes are under construction, but permits for the remaining lots have not yet been filed. Castro's efforts are part of a broader initiative to rebuild the area following the devastating Eaton Fire, which destroyed thousands of homes. Castro is working with local groups to maintain the character of the neighborhood and has donated some properties to a nonprofit organization.
