Governor DeSantis Opens New I-95 Interchange in Indian River County Ahead of Schedule
Governor Ron DeSantis officially opened the new I-95 interchange at Oslo Road in Indian River County, Florida. This project, valued at approximately $100 million, was completed a year ahead of its original schedule, a feat attributed to Florida's accelerated transportation project delivery initiatives. The new interchange is designed to significantly improve connectivity for drivers, emergency services, and the growing population of the region. It marks the first new interchange built in this area in nearly 50 years, addressing increasing traffic demands and enhancing regional infrastructure. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Jared Perdue noted that the project was completed 400 days early through a 'voluntary acceleration' program, which incentivizes contractors to find ways to speed up construction.
