USDA Recalls Nearly 15 Tons of Argentine Beef Due to Missed Import Reinspection
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina by Corte Argentino USA LLC. The beef, which was distributed to Florida and Texas, entered U.S. commerce without undergoing the required import reinspection. This oversight was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities, not through any reported illnesses or foodborne illness investigations. The recall affects five specific cuts of boneless beef, all bearing the 'Frigorifico Gorina SAIC' label, produced between May 15 and May 20, with use or freeze-by dates between September 15 and September 20. The FSIS emphasizes that while no contamination has been confirmed, the lack of federal verification necessitates treating the product as unverified.
