Byron Donalds and David Jolly Secure Nominations for Florida Governor Race
Republican Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly have won their respective party nominations for the Florida gubernatorial race. Donalds secured the Republican nomination, while Jolly earned the Democratic nomination. They will now face each other in the general election scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The current Governor, Ron DeSantis, will complete his second term in January 2027 and is unable to run again due to term limits. Donalds, a current U.S. Congressman for Florida's 19th congressional district, previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. He has received an endorsement from President Trump. Jolly, who previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican, left the party to join the Democrats before announcing his candidacy for governor. He has named Gwen Graham, former representative for Florida’s 2nd Congressional District, as his running mate.
