Zach Hartman, a senior at Sickles High School in Hillsborough County, has been honored with the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest recognition for youth achievement bestowed by Congress. This prestigious award acknowledges young Americans who demonstrate exceptional initiative, service, personal growth, physical fitness, and exploration through a multi-year commitment to challenging goals. Hartman significantly surpassed the program's requirements, accumulating over 1,300 documented hours across various categories. His extensive contributions include co-founding Eco Brothers, a nonprofit that distributed over 330,000 books to students, and partnering with Glad Dogs Nation to repurpose stuffed animals into pet toys. As an Eagle Scout, he also provided 250 essential item bags for children in foster care through the Heart Gallery of Tampa. Additionally, Hartman dedicated nearly 500 hours to physical fitness as a competitive swimmer and completed a Southwest expedition exploring Route 66.
