Former Officer Christopher Gillum Released After Grand Jury Declines Indictment on Terrorizing Charge
Christopher Gillum, a former law enforcement officer from North Carolina, was released from a New Orleans jail after a grand jury decided not to indict him on a terrorizing charge. Gillum was accused of planning a mass shooting targeting Black people at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He was arrested in Florida in April with a handgun and ammunition, following threats he allegedly made. The Louisiana Attorney General, Liz Murrill, dropped the charges, citing insufficient evidence to prosecute. The investigation involved multiple states and the FBI, but it was determined that Gillum's threats were vague and did not indicate a direct intent to commit a crime in Louisiana.
