Heavy Rain and Storms Expected in Western Oregon This Week
Western Oregon is set to experience its heaviest rainfall in months, with 1 to 1.5 inches of rain expected in the Willamette Valley and over 2 inches possible along the coast and in the Cascade Range between September 2 and 3, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also forecasted a 20-35% chance of thunderstorms on September 3, which could bring downpours, lightning, erratic winds, small hail, and even funnel clouds. Meteorologist Noah Alviz noted that this time of year occasionally sees water spouts along the coast. The rain is expected to provide much-needed relief to Oregon's dry conditions and ongoing wildfire season.
