NOAA Predicts Below-Normal 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, Impacting Florida Theme Parks
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has updated its forecast for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, predicting a 75% chance of below-normal activity. This is an increase from the earlier prediction of a 55% chance. The season, which runs from June 1 to November 30, is expected to have 7-13 named storms, 2-6 hurricanes, and 0-2 major hurricanes. So far, two named storms, Arthur and Bertha, have formed, both impacting Louisiana. The NOAA emphasizes the importance of preparation for all storms, regardless of their strength, due to potential inland rainfall damage. Theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort may face temporary closures if a hurricane approaches, and Disney Cruise Line sailings could be adjusted or canceled.
