Rep. Lois Frankel Faces Progressive Challenger in Florida's Redrawn 23rd District
In Florida's redrawn 23rd congressional district, incumbent Democratic Rep. Lois Frankel is facing a challenge from Victoria Doyle, a progressive candidate and retired intellectual property attorney. Frankel, who has been in elected office since the mid-1980s and in Congress since 2013, is focusing her re-election campaign on national spending for education and healthcare. Despite being a founding member of the Medicare for All caucus, Frankel advocates for a pragmatic approach to healthcare access, emphasizing bipartisan support. Her stance on immigration has caused some friction within her party, particularly her vote for a resolution that praised ICE, which was seen as controversial by some progressives. The district, which includes all of Palm Beach County, has been redrawn to be more favorable to Democrats, but Frankel's former district now leans Republican.
