The baby, diagnosed with a severe heart defect, is at the center of a dispute between West and the intended parents, Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed, who have refused to consent to the necessary medical procedure. Paxton's office secured an emergency order to ensure the child receives treatment in Texas, emphasizing the state's legal stance that the birth mother has parental rights. The case highlights the complexities of surrogacy agreements, especially when medical decisions are contested.
